Cheyenne super sport?
Has anyone ever heard of a cheyenne super sport? I found this truck and that is what is on the title. The truck is swb, it has the numbers matching 402 and 400 transmission. I was just curious if any one has heard of this.

It's a Cheyenne Super and someone messed up and added sport to it at the revenue office I would say.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
No Super Sport was evered offerred from the factory for any 67-72 Chevy/GMC truck. Maybe it was a dealer gimmick. Just like the corvette optioned truck. It never existed. As far as title...you can add the super sport to the title.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
Rear end could vary for these trucks. Why are you so interested in that in particular? We all can help you a little more if we see some pics.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
It would have a 3.08 unless another ratio was optioned. There were no SuperSport trucks from the factory. Is it original paint job?Is sport painted,a third badge on the fender,SuperSport badge under cheyenne,or is it elsewhere on the truck?
Any shortbed BBC Cheyenne Super is a great find and you`re lucky to be able to own it.Can`t wait to see.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
like it was mentioned, there was no such thng as a SS truck at all in 67 - 72. They never badged a C/K truck as an SS till the 90's (maybe 89).
Titles are very easy to manipulate, you tell the lady at the DMV/DPS to type SS in, and it gets typed in. Cheyenne shouldn't even be on there. C/10 1/2 ton truck, should be all it says, that is the model of vehicle. Welcome to the boards... I know I personally think you are lucky as hell to have found this rig, esp if it's as clean as I remember texas trucks being. So you know, a factory big block, cheyenne super, all on a short wheel base fleet side truck, is pretty much the truck collectors dream, and is worth more than most of our trucks. (stock for stock) |

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
Like special-K said, half ton BB 2wd's had 3.08 ratios in a twelve bolt. Welcome to the board and we're definitely looking forward to seeing it.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
I talked to the owner and the background was he had bought a long bed in 71 and a year later he bought this shortbed for his son. His son moved off and he just parked the truck saying it wasnt worth nothing because the bed was to short to haul anything. It has been sitting their untouched. He went out and did a lil work on the old motor mainly tinkering with the carb and changing the battery and he fired it rite up. I will try to get some pics posted toninght.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
Pending picts, i am just going to say SCORE!! BTW buy a couple of lottery tickets on your way home, you might as well have a few extra bucks!! You might well be one of the luckiest first time truck buyers out there. The Short bed Cheyenne BBC is like the holy grail of the 67-72 truck world and is worth a pretty penny if it is original miles (low too probably!) and in decent shape. WOW, wanna sell it?

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
Ain't it amazin' all the stories that we can read on here? I love every one of them. Whether or not any of them are true, or not, or partly....they're still a lot of fun to read. Whether or not we agree with all of the story, or parts of it, or none of it....it's fun.
When the long beds came out in '58, and I know there were longer beds prior to that time, they were the hot ticket. If you bought a new truck, you got a long bed because you worked from your truck. You put a rack on it and carried "stuff". Even if you didn't use it for work, and just occasionally hauled anything....you wanted a long bed. They rode better, too. So, for my '69 SWB, there were about 54K built, and over 225K of the long beds. I'm working from my brain-damaged memory, so don't rake me over the coals on the numbers, but you get my drift. SWB trucks are only about 25% of the LWB numbers.

Re: Cheyenne super sport?
Some of the Cheyenne Super SPID's I've seen list them as Cheyenne Super Sport. The others are Cheyenne Super Equipment. Maybe that's where it came from??
