Blue Beast build up - 71 GMC - just finished

Just put all the trim back on after getting the gmc back from paint. Drove it all over the place the last couple of days. Perfect convertible weather in VA. This thing has turned out much better than I expected, and it was built on a budget.

Re: Blue Beast build up - 71 GMC - just finished

Here's the link back to the starting point.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=274796

It had rusted rockers, and back fenders, a blown engine and mid-80s blazer seats bolted in with wood screws. It has been a long project. Now it has 2005 tahoe back seat, leather seats in front are from a pic and pull Suzuki Verona??? but they are like new and match the tahoe back. I put in a new crate 350, new shocks new body mounts, shocks, stereo, bedlined and rust repaired the inside. It has a B&M slap shifter, headers, edelbrock carb, etc. 35" mickey thompson baja claws on a 3" body lift. It runs and drives great! I am really enjoying it. Thanks to this board for all of the advice!!! I could'nt have done it without it!

Re: Blue Beast build up - 71 GMC - just finished

I wouldn't call it a frame off, but it has been off the frame when replacing the body mounts (that was a nightmare). I wanted a tough, reliable, safe driver and it has really come out better than I thought. I did all the body work and I traded a painter some used tires to spray the base clear coat. It is NAPA crossfire paint, it's actually an audi color called sprint blue. I just put on the 3/4 ton brake booster and that is a great mod. I also replaced all the suspension and spring bushings so it drives very smooth. I would have preferred a suspension lift but I bought it with the 3" body lift. I used rust bullet underneath and on the rocker boxes. At least they were good.
