Re: Well this is an ALL 4X4 message board right???

what engine?

I don't care what anyone here says, but my dad used to own one like that (it was a '78 shortbed F150 4x4). It had the 300 six, C6 auto, and the NP205. That truck was darn near unstoppable, except for rust...which was why he scrapped it.

Re: Well this is an ALL 4X4 message board right???

Nice Edsel! Where`s the other lug?
I`d take that over a new GM any day. It`s actually a truck.I think about 1/2 of those trucks were that color. That`s not a Highboy. They were F250s and`77 was the last year. Not much difference in drivetrains from GM and Dodge other than the pumpkin on the wrong side.
The 300 was one of the best truck motors ever built, like a 292 of course.
I remember these trucks new and guys going out and pulling the bumpers of or denting the back of the cab from the frame flexing and the bedside hitting the cab(all brands).I was driving old iron back then.Dealers were selling Flaresides with lifts,36s,and custom graphic paint jobs.We had a dealer named Big Henry`s and those conversions were called "Sandbox Specials".I had a`60 Dodge Power Wagon at the time. It`s funny,I considered all the new late`70s trucks as choked-out cardboard and plastic junk. Now,I see them as built like tanks and 10x more capable as new junk.
That truck has factoet crossover steering, huh?

Re: Well this is an ALL 4X4 message board right???

Awfully clean. Is there any rust on it? What year is that? 80-82? I have a fondness for the 77's as a buddy had one and I spent a lot of time driving it in the hay fields when I was a kid.

Hater!

Yes it's a 79 F150 with a 400 modified, T18 and a NP205. The inside of the bed is rusty and that's it. Might replace the rusted metal someday but not sure.
