In the 50's and 60's, if you needed ground clearance, you would order the maximum 17.5" wheels for 1/2 tons and maximum 19.5" wheels for 3/4 tons from the factory. Nobody back then ran to the local tire shop for a set of mags and 33" swampers. Buyers back then were a different breed, and weren't interested in showing off, they had a job to do.
