Re: cracked dash fix?

chances are your speedo was replaced at one time thats why the odometer is off... you may want to live with it taking it apart is a pain..
the auto parts places used to sell a kit to repair the vynal back in the day when vynal tops were the in thing.. it never worked right then and it sure wont work today if you can even find them anymore... best repair is a new dash pad and our site vendors or the catalogue companies sell them OR you can go the cheaper route with a carpeted dash cover also sold through both the catalogue companies and at least one of our site vendors..
i was lucky i found a good used one from a board member and you can search the classifieds here or even ebay for that

Re: cracked dash fix?

I went with a dash pad cover from LMC, and i really like it, it was 30 or 40 bucks and fit great and didnt look crappy like a lot of other really really thick covers ive seen that really dont conform to the curves....

Re: cracked dash fix?

You can use bondo or body filler to repair cracks... then you can install a dash cover

Re: cracked dash fix?

Maybe it’s flipped. My odometer says 37k but it’s more like 137k, there’s no 100k placement I guess they didn’t expect the truck to last that long or something.

My dash was completely f-ed, so I pulled all the vinyl off of it and I’m going to fiberglass over it. I’m going to customize it while I’m at it, add speakers in the dash, a/c, give it a different look.

Anyways they do make a dash glue that you can seal the cracks, they sell it at any auto parts store, but it doesn’t last forever and looks like ______if you don’t it just right. Then you can pant it with that vinyl textured paint, but in the direct sunlight it won’t look good for long. Of course being in Maine do you even get direct sunlight?
