Well I don't know what in the crap came on who in whichever year. Your question was which is better the 400 or the 350. Well, the 400 is a 'ell of a lot tougher transmission. I used mine for heavy pullin' and well, I ate up the 350's two of 'em as a matter of fact. So I had a 400 built, and now I spent some cash on her, but she never skipped a beat, and was runnin' strong when I sold her. The 400 was a great transmission, the 350 was very weak, of course thats just my experience. Mine was in '78 GMC swb, 4x4. I used mine for a little fun, and a lot of heavy hauling.
Hope this helps
See ya'
