71 Suburban New dash
So here I am, finally I am in the position to post some pictures of my work on my 71 suburban.
I bought the suburban on e-bay, it was cheap so I could expect a bad suburban although the pictures looked good. Also talked to the seller an he said it was a driver. When I finally got the suburban home after 5 months in October, it was a little disappointing. He didn't run and had bad brakes, and he was in worse shape than the pictures revealed. But ok, I bought it as a project with a good engine. That was my first real disappointment, when I got the engine running i noticed I missed a few cylinders. In March i finally got the time to start on the suburban So than I pulled the engine and found two bad cylinders. I decided to put my engine in there that was originally for my rod. After that it all went very fast until bodywork and painting started. this is my first paint job and car that i have straightened, so I learned a lot. I choose to use a cheap industrial paint, that was also a bad choice. The paint had pickles in it that I could not remove even with the finest filters. But because I want to use this suburban as my wedding car I didn't have a choice and went on painting. the result on a distance and pictures look ok but from a close up it is not really the quality I like to show of with. Also made my own complete stainless steel exhaust system, finished today. I am still building up, but wanted to share this for now.

These are officially the second and third row. I am going to fill the gap between the two rear seats to make it one. I didn't make it to the road test because my 700r4 doesn't work, it doesn't shift from first to second.

Re: 71 suburban daily
Thanks guys, love to hear some appreciation on my work. The past 3 weeks I worked on it from 8 am till 10.30 pm 7 days a week.

In one space i made my own spray booth. the 3th has a pit in it, unfortunately my cars are to big for that space so if i have to work underneath the car i have to open the garage door.

Now you have to make it a 71! That's a 70' grille on it. You guys really get things done there don't ya?

Re: 71 suburban daily
I like the 70 grille. This way i have an extra set of lights that makes him legal for the road. I must have separate blinkers and city lights.
