Scary Rollover
OK, now I dont want to start a debate about safety so let me 1st say this: MATT the owner of the BLAZZABIT (Rabbit pickup body on a Blazer frame w/44's) is very very careful. No one has ever ridden in the bed of this truck and no one rides inside w/o the 5 pt. harness on....except once.
So this is the story: MATT hauled the BLAZZABITT up to Ione, Wa. for a parade. He camped at another friends, ALLAN's place. ALLAN lives about 3/4 of a mile from "downtown" Ione, and being a very small town that 3/4 mile drive is of course a small winding dirt road around a hill. The day of the parade MATT reluctantly let 6 people ride in the back of the truck for the 3/4 mile trek to the parade. A simple 15 mph drive turned almost tragic when something in the steering broke, of course at the worst possible moment, when the truck was turning along side a ravine. The BLAZZABIT was over the edge as quick as the brakes were hit. The 6 people in the back all jumped out and as far as I know all suffered only minor injuries. The truck tumbled about 100 feet to the bottom with MATT and his wife inside, not wearing the harnesses. She had a concussion and MATT more tore up his shoulder and had to have surgery. Some would say its a miracle that no one was hurt worse or killed. Anyway, I thought I'd pass this story on just to remind us all how fragile life is and how even the seemingly most mundane thing can turn ugly. I'll try to get better pictures later.

Re: Scary Rollover
Wow. Sorry to hear of the accident and injuries, but the results obviously could have been much, much worse.
More proof that safety always matters, and things can go bad in a heartbeat. Good reminder for all of us. Thanks for posting. Hope Matt & Mrs Matt heal quickly.

Re: Scary Rollover
Glad nobody was killed and good thing it appears to have a rollcage as with that much weight it would surely collapsed the roof .

Re: Scary Rollover
Got the word today that everyone is OK. Kinda spooky to hear that all 8 people involved were life flighted by helicopter 100 miles from Ione, Wa. to Spokane. Thank goodness for roll cages, as these two pictures show:

Re: Scary Rollover
Glad to hear everyone is OK. I bet I know the answer is going to be next time someone wants to ride in the back.
Do you know what steering component broke?
