That wouldn't be so expensive? Im not real good at making stuff so the easiest way would be the best.

The easiest way (IMO) would be a 69-72 blazer tank. The last I looked you could get into the tank for $250 with mounting straps.
You can do the marker light filler as seen in the FAQ section without spending a lot of money.

I am using a Jeep CJ tank. They are $86 to your door on EBAY. A sender is about $30. I have the marker light filler. The jeep tank dosen't hang low like the Blazer tank. Only bad thing is its 15 gallons. Thats no big deal for me. I only drive it a couple of hundred miles a month. The jeep sender is not compatible with the Chevy gauge. I am still working thru that. When you fill it up it goes to empty. I have changed gauges to a 73ohm full and 10ohm empty. It still isn't real correct but I will figure it out someday.

I relocated my tank by using a poly blazer tank. My truck is 4wd lwb. I also did the marker light filler. It was difficult and I do not recommend it unless you have a lot of time, patience and skills. To have it look decent, I am into it (marker filler set up) over 100 bucks for a marine filler, gates molded fuel line hose, clamps, fuel hose etc. Not for the faint hearted. Thats not to mention that I still have to weld up the hole I cut on the inside of my bed. If I had to do it over again, I would probably buy a fuel cell and have the filler in the bottom of my truck bed. That would be the easiest (lease amount of customization work).

Anyone have any pics of the blazer tanks installed? I would like to see them from the rear and see how low they hang. I'm wanting something that's not visible with the bumper on.

If you look in my last post ( My NEW used wheels ) You can see that the blazer tank is not visible from the side view and barely from the rear but I dont have a picture from the rear yet.

Blazer tank, stock height.

You can really only see it when you're at "bumper level." Standing up, looking at the truck it's not really noticable, especially if you paint it flat black. If my truck was lowered, no one would ever notice it.

I dont know how expensive it would be but i have a lwb and was thinking about putting saddle tanks infront of the wheels in between the bed side and the frame. Im in the marine industry so i was gonna use plastic boat tanks dont know how well it will work just a though.

I would say rolling time bomb. They removed those in newer trucks because there was no protection from a side impact.

anybody put a tank in front of the rear axle? I know that later truck side tanks won't work as they have a special cab mount to clear the tank, but what about a blazer or poly tank between the rails, behind the cab? Not sure about the filler i suppose

maybe an issue for the lowered guys buy mine is getting a lift so there's plenty of room out of the driveshaft area

I had an aluminum tank made for under $400 shipped. Check out my build thread and you will see that it is level with the sport bumper...

Some have used blzaer or suburban tanks or a fuel cell from summit...

If you were able to mount it close to the cab you could fab up something to run the filler in the stock location.

I'm just thinking so I havent gone out and measured but would a S-10 tank work with what you are thinking of?

im suprised no one has mentioned a Fuel cell with chevy sending unit already in it.
you can get them in sizes from 3 gallons to 30 gallons. and you can mount them on top or underneath the bed.
plastic aluminum and i think ive seen a stainless one also.

+ they are foam filled meaning no slosh.

Also keep an eye out for 1961-1972 suburbans (and panels, not made all years) for they have bolt in gas tanks that fit our trucks with only having to modify one bed crossmember for clearance. I have a 65 gmc suburban tank in my 67....

I have also seen some suburbans that have two tanks, one in front of axel, one behind. I have the one behind as it is clearanced for a sparetire....

The suburban tanks fit in the same locations as the blazer tank.

As for tire clearanced tanks, I have only seen them on the 61-66 suburbans, and you would have to grab those years spare tire hardware as the 67-72 do not work with them.

Really no room on a 2wd unless you have leaf springs and then get creative with exhaust. There is probably something out there for trailing arms because I'm getting used to being wrong

I did the right up in the FAQ section about the installation of the blazer tank and Tennman's sidemarker fill. I wrote all the directions down and think I had probably 250.00 total on the install. I used an S10 filler neck. It tkes some patience, but can be done, I promise. I don't do the fillers in the bed due to not being able to haul anything large in the bed and filling the gas tank. You could easily mount a blazer/burb tank and put the filler in the inner wheel well, that way it wouldn't be on the floor if you have a stepside. You could also run it up the stake pocket if you wanted to fab a little more, just don't overfill the tank and you will be okay. just some ideas!
