I have a stepside currently, and was thinking of changing to fleetside, what do you guys think about it? Should I keep it or change it? And its going on a 70 gmc shorty. Could you show me some pictures of both types of beds to help me decide.

I like the step-sides best, especially in the short wheel base version.

I have two step-sides a '71 daily driver that we just replaced the fleet-side with a step-side and '67 project.

Here are some pictures. The first one is of the '71 lwb fleet-side, the second one is of the '71 with a step-side and the third one is of my '67 hybrid project. The '67 is hybrid because it is made up of parts from 5 different year trucks.

You'll get a lot of opinions on this. Some will scream that fleetsides are better and some will scream that stepsides are better.

Of course the stepside guys are wrong, they just don't know it!

I prefer fleet, but if I were you, I'd keep it as a stepside. Keep it the way the GM gods wanted it

if shortbed, but using it as a truck, either go flatbed or fleetside.

i am partial to stepsides, myself.

For a driver I like the stepside best.For a hauler the fleet is a better choise.They both look good.

I like the stepsides most. I can't remember who told me this but when you look at a stepside from above it has the shape of a woman. The space between the cab and rear fenders is the waist and the rear fenders are the hips.

Tim's stepside is one of the nicest I've seen. It made me want to add a GMC to my collection...

I personally think the boxier front ends of the 69-72 years look better in fleetside and the 67-68's better in stepsides. I really just like em all.

Here is my stepper for reference though.

Fleetside all the way! Nothin' wrong with the stepper, but from where I'm sittin'- a step bed belongs on an A.D. or 55-59 era truck. The whole feel of the 67-72 body style was smooth and streamlined. To slap some clunky throw-back from 1956 on there is not keeping in step with the spirit of the body style.
