My speedometer was not working right (needle dancing). Gonna lube the cable and I took off the Stewart-Warner ratio adapter that was attached to the trans. It needed a good cleanup outside and in. Inside was caked with what seems to be old lube of some sort. It was really caked in there. Any ideas as to what type of lube/oil I should load this up with. Thanks!

When I worked for a bulk cement trucking company 12 years ago, I use to build these ratio boxes all the time. I used Citgo, Mystic JT-6 grease, multi purpose. I think they have synthetic blends now that are better but are more expensive. This grease worked well for me as most of the ratio boxes went 250,000 to 300,000 miles with no problems. Also I noticed it doesn't have a gasket, It needs to be sealed or it will fail.
