Is it possible to lower a 3/4 ton? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I would love to lower my 72 C20 3-5 or 4-6 ( I don't want to C Notch)if it is possible, I can get lowered springs custom made from a supplier that I use @ work, but they had a few questions about the geometry.

Front, Is there someone who makes a lowered spindle that will fit on a 3/4 ton? (it will not be hauling any weight so if a 1/2 ton will fit, what drop should be applied by the springs).

Rear, How much drop should be done by springs and how much by blocks.

If anyone has done this, to any extent, please let me know where parts came from and how they worked.

spindles are available for a 3/4 ton, but a little pricey as compaired to the 1/2 ton pcs. Try to figure about 2" max on a front spring drop to keep geometry in check. At the rear, The 1/2 ton guys are going as much as 6" without a notch.....but I think I would stay with 5" on the 3/4 as max. The 1/2 ton trucks will handle about 2" of drop on a block with 15" wheels, & still be above scrub lines......you may be able to go 2 1/2" with a 16 or 16.5 wheel. check with some of the vendors on the board for spindles. There is a lowered 3/4 in a town near me. I had to look twice to figure out it was a 3/4. It had 15 inch wheels.

Sure they can. I have reworked lower control arms with 2 in lower springs in the front and 4 in lower springs in the back. I did have to notch the rear cause I was hitting the frame.

I need to get a better picture.

PS Anyone can lower a 1/2 ton!!!

If I use 2"lower springs in the front, without dropped spindles, how much would I drop the rear to have it sit level?

????? Springs, blocks or both ???????

I have read numerous threads and I have figured that the rear should be 1 1/2"to 2"lower than the front. Is that the idea?

Early Classic Enterprises sells conversion dropped spindles along with the stock height for a 3/4 ton. These will convert it to 1/2 ton with a five lug pattern if your interested.

i was at a car show about 3 summers ago down in omak wa, there was a yellow 3/4 ton 4x4 early 50's ford, it was slammed...how cool is that?¿?¿?¿
