Re: Senior Project Build

I have a new valve on order from sdparts and they are taking forever to get it out, along with new gaskets and timing chain. I can't wait, as soon as I get all the stuff back I can start reassembling the motor. There is plenty to do in the meantime, like relocating the fuel cell to under the bed, reinstalling the interior and adding 5 point harnesses, setting up extra gauges, etc. I will update here when some progress is made

Re: Senior Project Build

I got home from an exciting weekend riding and found parts!

The new intake valve for the L92, the damn thing is almost as big as my VW key! I can't wait to get the heads back together

And .49 Cometic head gaskets....... supposed to give me like 10.6:1 or something close to that.

And a bunch of other gaskets, seals, new crank bolt, MSD Super Conductors, etc.

And a new double roller timing chain!

Tomorrow I have the day off school, so I can get the parts to the machine shop, start assembling the bottom end of the motor, and work on getting the interior and fuel system together. Now I just need head and intake bolts!

The woman is actually an ex..... we still have fun

The bike is a YZF450, and I think it needs a 589 stroker kit soon

Front Wheels: 15x6 3.75 BS
Front Tires: 195/65/15 (I wish I had gotten a taller sidewall)
Rear Wheels: 15x10 4.00 BS
Rear Tires: 28x13.5 ET Streets

They all fit together nicely, but I would go with an inch or so narrower on the rear tire, unless you narrow the rear end you can't lower it enough to tuck into the fender. This would also require tubbing out the bed. This may be in my future as I want to be able to tuck it up inside. I got the ET''s because they were brand new and cheap off craigslist

Ya my old 400EX (2004) is getting pretty tired, time to rebuild that too! While I was out in the snow playing, I tried climbing Sand Mtn. (it's huge) and made it all the way to the top a couple times. The snowmobilers couldn't believe that my quad made it lol

Yep can't beat Oregon. Go a few hours in any direction and you get snow, desert, forest, or beach

Down the road, once the motor is functioning well and everything is sorted out, it will come out and get bored/stroked to a 416 or 432 with forged internals, and rework the L92 heads. Then add a set of 70ish mm turbos with a BIG intercooler
