Motor Mount Opinion
I'm in the process of building a 355 for my two wheel drive blazer that will be 350+ HP. It will mainly get driven on the street, and I'll beat on it, but I may also run it at the track from time to time.
I've heard that the stock motor mounts aren't that strong. Is this true? Is it worth switching to '73 and up clamshell mounts or aftermarket ones like performanceonline.com sells? I would like to put this motor in right the first time but don't want to spend unnecessary money. Any opinions?

im still using the factory style mounts in my 71.. i race it often at the track and abuse it on the street. i also plan on a 200hp NX kit later so i guess ill test them out then too.

put a torque strap on the engine drivers side to limit excess movement and you'll be just fine with stock mounts

Never had a problem with mine...I don't race but I tow a trailer loaded down with lumber regularly.

I heard the same thing about the engine sitting higher. I think I'm sticking with my stockers until it gives me a reason to change. Thanks for the input everyone.
