lift off hood prop rods

Does anybody know who makes prop rods for lift off hoods? I would like them to hold the hood above engine about 20" or so when i'm at car shows. Would like them to be stainless.

Re: lift off hood prop rods

Finally got hood done, and trying to figure out how to make the prop rods. I don't have hood pins so i'm going to have to epoxy some kind of plate under neath the hood for the rods to go up into. On the front radiator support i can have 2-rods come up for support, and looking for ideas for the rear. here's a few pictures.

Re: lift off hood prop rods

Okay here's my idea: Take a piece of solid rod & weld tabs on each end to mount zueses (?spelling?) to. Then, zues rod to your existing tab on fenders & other end to existing zues on hood. Could do a short rods on the rear & longer up front.(If I had a scanner, I'd draw an ugly pic of what I'm trying to say). Paint it the same color as your truck.

Also, I've seen the light weight aluminum hinges for fiberglass hoods that are really nice & probably $$$. But then again you've already got the zues installed in the rear.

Remember, regardless of what you decide on, you don't want your new fiberglass hood to blow off with a gust of wind (believe me, it will happen), nor risk chipping that beautiful paint!!!
