Restoring seatbelts

I just got a set of nice Parchment seat belts thanks to Mike (hgs_notes) and would now like to rejuvenate their color and flexibility.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean seat belts without using bleach and other harsh chemicals that might affect their integrity?

Re: Restoring seatbelts

I wait until I know my wife is going to be out of the house for a few hours.

Pop the plastic covers off the buckles, lay them out on the top rack of the dish washer, and run a cycle or two without soap.

I'm amazed how clean they get with this trick.

While I have the plastic off I clean them up with soap and water.

This last set I did I found the plastic "GM" button is black on all color buckles. If you have a beat up GM sticker on the button you can swap it out with any other like buckle.

Re: Restoring seatbelts

I actually took mine out of the vehicle, put them in a pillowcase and ran them through the washing machine. Worked great.

Re: Restoring seatbelts

Ellen, Mark gave me a bunch of belts with my truck at the last minute and I had to take them apart, swap parts, and needed to clean them up. I did like mrein3 suggested and it worked reeeeeeeeelly well. I added soap though, not realizing he hadn't until now. I'm amazed at how nice they look now.
