Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
Mine are 31.6" overall (305/40/22). We took slightly different approaches to this so you may be fine. But it's amazing how quickly that space goes away when you get close to the ground (mine doesn't even lay frame). With a 2" longer wheelbase those tub protrusions will naturally be smaller.

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
Slight change in plans for the new rocker area. I liked how it turned out but it just didn't flow right. It looked home made so I cut parts out and built some new parts today. Here is the new version.

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
Definately better and allows you to have a curved door corner rather than squared off.

Yeah that looks better. As you said the roundness of it does flow better. Looking very sweet, you have got some of the best metal working skills i have seen. Daren

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
Yes it looks much better this way, I already thought that you would change it.
This is the only way it has to be, indeed great metal work. I like every picture I see from you. you make it look so easy(I know that it isn't)

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
Here are a few more progress pic's. I still have a few small pieces to fill in but you should get the idea. I first made the new inner corner piece then I cut a thin strip, curved it to fit the door edge then spot welded it to the inner piece and hemmed the door edge to the outer skin. It has a nice almost factory look now and it is very Strong.

How many hours do you have in a day there? I work at home(doing what you're planning to do-restos&customs) and find it hard somedays to spend ANY time at all on my junk, never mind having 2 or 3 projects on the go!

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
That is a nice job on the ford. Keep your son interested. Mine lost interest in the 68 Camaro project and I sold it. Now I wish I would have kept it for myself. Good luck with it.

Wow, what a clean truck and what a difference!
The rear suspension looks like it was made for the truck.

Re: LFD's 4dr Tahoe Build
I am really liking how the Tahoe is turning out. I absolutely love the custom but looks as though it could have been stock look. I have been following this build forever and can't believe I haven't subscribed yet. The Ford F-1 is a very impressive looking project as well. Are you going to keep the patina look or are you going to go ahead and paint it?

Thanks I agree the custom stock look is fun to try and pull off but some times it is allot more work. We are keeping the patina for now but we have plans for an all out show truck down the road with this one. Really the main reason for doing this truck at this point is I need a base line for the amount of hours for the suspension for a customer's 41 Chevy truck I will be doing the same way. So I figured the most accurate way to do that was go ahead and install the parts I had for ours and let him know what it would take. Kevin LFD Inc. |
