The part I'm waiting to see is a pancaked roof. A beaded one would be very slick looking.

I don't think this build will be going that far. Plans have changed again so a few more days in the shop and a for sale sign my be in it's future!

Re: LFD's 4dr Burb Build

Like everyone else, I love your work. Its fun to watch. I really like your attitude about learning.

Ive read about Laz's classes a few times. I would like to take one someday. I wish he was closer. So did everyone in your class build the same things? I see you have a good start on a 34 roadster. Ive seen the Willy's coupe they built and I heard they built a Cobra in a class too.

I wish I was a little more flush right now. I would love to have the burb or the truck. Have you posted either of these for sale yet?

Most guys were working toward the same parts I made but were a few panels short. They wanted to talk more but I was their to learn as much as I could. Low Buck is up as well as my 63 GMC SWB but the Burb will not be for sale until the 4th door is 100%.

Yeah I was until my ADD kicked in again I just had to be honest with my self and I will be getting more into older hot rods and with a little one running around my time is not as plentiful as it once was. If I keep and finish up everything I have now it will be 3-4 yrs before I can really get going in the other direction and that just does not work with my business plan. So I need to stick my original plan and that was to build the 4th door so I would have all the templates I need for doing another one and sell this one off. I am toying with the 5K range but will not know for sure until that time comes.

Re: LFD's 4dr Burb Build

I hear you on the little ones vs. available time. I have 1 year old twin boys and I'm not in the shop nearly as much as I'd like to be now.

It would still be really cool rolling up to pick up a customer's project pulling a trailer with a bagged, 4 door burb. Plus, you'll have a lot more room than you would in an older burb/panel/pickup. You need wheelbase and weight to pull your trailer, and the burb has both of those going for it.

Yep that is why I jumped all over it when I found it. Problem is I jumped all over the other 11 vehicles I have as well. Time to down size

Questoin:

How did you bend the flange that's right next to the drip rail over without pushing it in? In other words, how did you get such a nice brake there?

Re: LFD's 4dr Burb Build

With the flat sharp end of one of my dolly's and very light taps working back and forth until it was just right. I was surprised how easy it ended up being and how factory it looks.

Well I should get almost a full weekend to work on and finish up the 4th door so I hope by Sunday to be able to put up some red and white price sign's very soon!

Finished!!

Well at least the 4th door is now done. I still need to put the front end back on before it goes up for sale.

Re: LFD's 4dr Burb Build

Are the 4th door hinges just 3rd door hinges, flipped upside down? Is the area they attach to the (3rd) door the same as on the front doors?

Looks Great!!

Nice job! Did you make the outside keylock operable or are you going to weld it up like the passenger side?

I feel like such an idiot right now. I just realized the passenger side does not have a lock. I made everything work on the 4th door! Well I guess I have a bit more welding to do

Sorry, didn't mean to add more work. How hard would it be to put keylock on the passenger side? I would personally want both doors to have one espcially since it doesn't have remote power locks, but that's just me.
