Re: will a 68 column interchange with a 65?

I put a 70 3 speed auto column in my 64. Had a few mods to make. The 64 has 3 holes in the firewall where the lower column goes through and bolts to the firewall and the 70 column only has two holes. my 64 has an upper steering column mount that uses two bolts so I had to drill into the 70 column and weld in two nuts. After that it fit just fine and the length doesn't seem to be much different but I won't really know untill I actually hook up the steering shaft someday. Just because I pulled it out of a 70 doesn't make it a 70 but I'm pretty sure that it is. sorry that I don't have any pictures of it in the truck but I just pulled the column off the shelf and unwrapped it for pics. I got sidetracked with other projects so I haven't touched the 64 in last 5 months. Hope this helps a little.
