Unhappy help with oil pump

well looks like i need to change out the oil pump in my 72 4x4 blazer,looks like im` going to have to jack up the motor to clear the engine cradle,anyone done this???
will i be able to get the pan off with out unbolting the engine??
btw its all stock susp.no body lift,just on 33`s

I know on the newer series 73-87 you can totally remove the oil pan without even raising the engine. I did this on my 77 Blazer Chalet and I beleive the 73-87's are all similar. Not sure if it is as easy on the older series trucks or not but I wouldn't be afraid to try it.

I was not able to easily get the pan off on the Jimmy. The crossmember runs very close to the front of the pan sump. Not saying it cannot be done, but you definitely have to unbolt the motor mount bolts and raise the motor some. Now would be a good time to go ahead and do a timing chain as well if you haven't.

well,went at it last night,HAD to unbolt motor,unbolt xmember slid it forward,to even think of it coming out.
haven`t reinstalled it yet,i sure don`t want to do this again...

lower oil pressure than i like,runs great,no noises,don`t smoke,just lower oil pressure than i think it should have,about 40lbs cold and 15lbs at 1100 rpms,i know its still in the ballpark but i don`t want to get a tow bill if i can help it.
