Summer progress 66 build
My luck and insane stupidity, my last computer stroked out and I lost 2 years of photos of all the work I've done. I knew it could happen and one morning I thought to myself I'd better move those pics to a disc tonight and during that day, boom...... all gone. So heres what I've got. Outside needs final sand and shoot, plan on a new bed from MAR-K this winter and hopefully driving by spring. Outside and wheels will be the same color as the interior (pewter). Been off the road for two summers now. I'm becoming tired.

Re: Summer progress 66 build
Looks like progress.
At least get yourself a photobucket account or something. Worst case you loose the online photos or the photos on your PC not both. I've lost photos before and I was devistated for it. Never again. |

Re: Summer progress 66 build
A stepside. I have the original but it would be easier and faster to replace it. Rust sucks.

Re: Summer progress 66 build
Nice project. You may already know this but I'll throw it out there for those who may not. If you are unable to boot from a hard drive that doesn't mean all the files on it are lost. In many cases you can configure it as a slave and load your OS on a new master drive (or use a friend's computer). Then you can navigate to the old drive in windows explorer (or mac equivalent) and get all your stuff back. I don't know what the case was with yours. It may have been completely toast. But that method is always worth a try.

Re: Summer progress 66 build
Its all stock 1/2 ton suspension, 31" X 10.5 tires on 8" wheels. The cab was off an oil burner service truck and the inside always stunk of gas and was covered with this black dust. I removed the gas tank and will move it to the back, that will make my girlfriend much happier. It will be nice to ride in something clean. The dash gave me a real good arse whoopin. I painted, stripped, and painted the instrument cluster bezel four times, the glove box door three times, and the steering wheel twice before I was happy with the results. Fish eyes, dirt, bugs, you name it. Seat to the upholsterer next week. You guys got any pics of your bench seats? I need some Ideas.

Live Rust,
Here is my bench. The pattern is same as the original stock seat but in black leather. Hides bought on evil-bay. TR

Re: Summer progress 66 build
Man, I cant believe it's been 3 plus years since I rolled it into storage for the winter and thats where its been since. Fired it up the other day, put it on a trailer and dragged it to a friends bodyshop. After the first 5 minutes of sanding I realized why I'd left it in storage for so long.... I hate bodywork. It has a couple problem areas but most of it blocked out nice. Hope to post more progress pics soon.

Thanks!

Did the first assembly on the bed today and everthing fit real good. If you need a stepside box, I cant recommend MAR-K enough. In our current world where everthing you buy new is complete junk, this is not the case with those guys. CANT WAIT FOR PAINT! |

Re: Summer progress 66 build
Another coat of primer, more blocking. THIS PART SUCKS! Had the grille, valance, and bumper blasted and epoxy primed, fit the bed and wood, hung a fender and step and thankfully with a little coaxing it all lines up good. Had to smooth out the bed stake pockets, they had some nasty stressed areas from the pressing. Thinking now about going dark green, black wheels with the white dog dish caps. Trying to keep its stock municipal look, kinda Ranger Station, Andy Griffith show, Fish and Game ish. If anyone has a set a caps please pm me, i'm having a little trouble finding a set. Thanks
