Sandlewood Color

I was wondering if this was an OEM color? I have what looks to be sandalwood but can't seem to find it very often. Only in random items. Could anyone let me know for sure as I don't want to order the wrong colored parts online and have issues returning them. Thanks

Re: Sandlewood Color

Sandalwood was a factory color, but that isn't sandalwood. Sandalwood is more of a cream color. It is a little darker than Parchment. I have sandlewood interior in my '70. Here is Brother's carpet color chart.

Re: Sandlewood Color

I was kind of thinking mine is the red sandalwood. Not quite sure however, do you know of any places that make dash pads in those oddball colors? It seems the only sites I find have the basics (black, blue, red, saddle and green) which is frustrating cause I dont want to redo my whole interior I really like the colors how they are.

Re: Sandlewood Color

Do you mean red saddle? I'm not sure where to get it. I would call or PM one of the larger vendors and ask. I painted my dash pad with SEM. It's good stuff.

SEM- http://sem.ws/Catalog.asp?prod=190

I'd check with GMCPaul, Brothers, or maybe the truck shop in California.

Re: Sandlewood Color

I had an all original 71 Chevelle with sandlewood interior. It was much lighter than that; more like the color in HuggerCST's red truck pic.

Re: Sandlewood Color

Get a can of color-matched dye made up at an auto motive paint supplier.Take a piece of you interior to them or maybe they have a device they can come out to your truck with. There are also products to enhance bonding to vinyl & plastics, too.

Re: Sandlewood Color

Wouldn't the interior color be on the RPO tag? I know it was on mine. (in code)

You can Google for RPO readers.

Or try a dealership, they should be able to tell you.

No, this is definately not Parchment, it is a little darker. I also had a hard time trying to figure out what color I have. I think that I bought my new interior from Classic Industries,(PUI I think) but that was a few years ago. It does match the old though. That's a good question about the column color, I never found a match for it so I went with saddle when I repainted mine.

Re: Sandlewood Color

the prev. owner dyed it that color himself. Not sure how he did it, or if he was trying to match the factory colors or not. I know the truck was not originally white, it was like a cream/camel color (look at the scratches in the bed or I think the whole firewall is still that color. Hope that sheds some light...

Re: Sandlewood Color

Tony`s interior is definately dyed.I`d call it Camel, but that`s just a name. Not a factory color for our trucks and possibly nothing else.I think it looks nice.I imagine the seat cover was made and they matched a die to it for the rest of the interior.

Re: Sandlewood Color

I got the sandlewood color dash pad from Brothers as I was told that they are the only ones who make the pad that color. When I got it I realized what I thought was sandlewood was actually light saddle and I am not going to use that pad. I had a 1970 blazer, plain jane color yellow, from spid, and trim was listed as gold.... now try to find that one!

Re: Sandlewood Color

My original spid said it had parchment interior. That consisted of off white seat cover, door panels visors, and belts, with a sandalwood steering, wheel dash, and column. I loved the look but trying to get the steering wheel right was a hassle for me. Brothers had the dash.

Mine is the same, parchment/sandalwood. My steering wheel is toast, but my wife bought me a new dash pad from Early Classics. When it arrived, it had Brother's stickers on it. She first tried MotherTruckers, as he was suppose to have NOS sandalwood pads, but he was out of stock. The repop from ECE/Brothers doesn't fit very well.

My dash pad, top of the dash and steering column are sandalwood. The seats and door panels are parchment (off-white).
