Am I thinking clearly?
OK here is the deal. After the enging swap I now have brakes grabbin in the l/h front. It's Drum/Drum Yes they are power assisted with a booster.
Either A) The headers are run to close to the brake line (3/4")? B) When I changed rear wheel cylinder I didn't get a good bleed. The header engine swap thing just happened to coinside with the grabby brake? c) With the new motor it runs like a "scalded dog" and I'm just to heavy on the brakes? I just put shoes all the way around on this thing 3 months ago and they were fine. I guess the confusion is if it was a bad bleed why is it the front? I changed a rear wheel cyclinder? I didn't think that the two joined any where. Am I wrong does the master cylinder share fluid front to back? Any thoughts would be great thanks.... |

Re: Am I thinking clearly?
i'd takew off the front drums and check to see if a cylinder is leaking ,that the adjusters are free and working ,that you have the big shoe in back and the small shoe toward the front on each axel

Re: Am I thinking clearly?
I'd could go with option C.
Did you have your drums turned before you installed everything? Even new drums should be turned. The rear brakes share one cylinder and the fronts a different one. Your parking brake could also be stuck which could very easily be the problem.

Re: Am I thinking clearly?
I did the brakes 3 moths ago and new springs and hardware. Self adjusters cleaned and lubed.I mean I over hauled the darn things. Big shoe small shoe..Dang the freaking things are identical..or i thought they were...I'll have to pull a wheel.
Would the headers heat have any effect? I can assure you the parking brake isn't making my l/h front wheel grab..besides the cable has been frozen ever since I got the truck. Drums were turned when brakes were done.. |

Re: Am I thinking clearly?
You just have to take the drums off and look. Maybe some oil got in there,or whatever, but you should look and see before anything else.
