New Product Ideas

I'm 17 years old and in an advanced Design and Development class in high school. We are required to develop a product through out the year and our finished product will be presented to a board of engineers in May.

I have a 72 C10 that used to be my daily, but i recently purchased an 07 silverado. I love my old c10 and still have it and was looking to develop something for it but i am a little short on ideas.

If any of ya'll have any problems that you would like to see fixed, a post would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Re: New Product Ideas

there was a thead on here somewhere asking what parts weren't available in the aftermarket, you might want to search that one

another thread was asking about fire exinguisher mounting places...maybe fabricate a fire extinguisher mount? Just throwing out ideas, I'm just getting started on this old truck road so I haven't really ran into a bunch of issues...YET

Re: New Product Ideas

How about a gas relocation kit that included the filler neck route, pipe, and instructions for getting the filler neck into a stake hole wall...I personally don't want my gas filler in the bed, as I can't get to it if there's stuff in the bed (it is a truck!). There are plenty of tank products, but you have to pull our your creative mind to get the filler neck and hole somewhere other than bed floor or bedside.

Box to hang a DIN 1.5 radio under the heater controls. I've kicked around using the bottom half of a glove box door as the facade, but haven't cut any metal yet.

Re: New Product Ideas

Thanks for the posts.

KCJones- I like that idea and am going to look more into it.

And i work around 35-40 hours a week to make my truck payment, insurance and gas.

What i've been looking into the most so far is some way to increase the efficiency of carbureted engines. Mostly examining air induction.

The product has to be more of an invention or innovation than just reproducing something. Sorry if I was unclear.
Thanks again.

Re: New Product Ideas

Develop a kit to retro fit rack and pinion to the style of suspension these trucks have.

Re: New Product Ideas

How about a pony keg that is shaped like a behind the seat gas tank? It would have to be cooled by the A/C and the coil springs could pressurize it.

Re: New Product Ideas

Here is my wish list.

Flux Capacitor is always a good idea.

Lift kits for the 2wd people. (4" lifts using lift spindles and new rear springs.)

Big Brake kit

Bolt-on 4-link suspension

Tools to get the job done easier than before. I believe it was Rockcrln that designed and sold kits so one person can take off the cab and bed. (If I am giving the wrong person credit, I apologize.)

Hard top convertable. That would be sweet. I am talking about a metal top. Not blazer top.

If these are all available that I mentioned, minus the flux capacitor, please send me a link as I am a finding a hard time as all heck to find them.

Re: New Product Ideas

Oh so you have to "innovate"? Well, in that case why don't you come up with an engine that runs on any carbon-based fuel (garbage) like doc Brown's DeLorean in Back to The Future! Sorry...don't mean to be a jacka$$, but I just had to do it.

How about cold air induction that pulls the air from under the cowl cover thru the firewall?
