Post temps

Anyone experience temp gauges reading high all the time? 85 K5 Blazer. New radiator, water pump, 195 degree thermostat(4),gauge and sending unit. It is not really running hot but the normal reading now is around 225. Upon warmup it goes up to 250 or so then comes down to about 225. Could the instrument panel circuit board be bad? I have good flow through the engine and radiator( 3 row ), all factory underhood as in no mods. As I said, it's not really hot but anyone else driving it would likely panick over the reading. Any ideas? Thanks, Boog.

I have the original type spade unit replaced with another one from GM. I've examined the circuit board behind the instruments but it all looks ok. I've traced the wires underhood and underdash for grounding but found nothing. I'm stumped. It reads normal like with a 165 thermostat but the heater air is luke warm so I installed a 195 and it did help. I've got hotter heat in cab but my gauge reads too high. Most of the trucks I've been in registered mostly on the cool side. I don't want to have to put an underdash gauge in it. Thanks, Boog.

Sounds like GM gave you the wrong part. The part seems to fit a Vette operating temp. Remove the temp sender and clean the threads really good. Remember don't use any type of sealant or tape. Clean the contact point really good too.

I wish it was as simple as the wrong part. That I could understand. The original sender has the spade terminal too. I've changed both the gauge and sending unit. They read just like the old ones did, high. It's got to be something simple I'm overlooking, that's all. Thanks, Boog
