Picked up another 4x4

I actually got this off Colorado Craigslist about 3 weeks ago. I posted because I thought the winch was interesting. The PO said it was installed by the dealer. It is cable operated.
My plans are to put the flatbed on this one and use it as a work truck. I am going to replace the rockers, cab corners, and partial floor. It has a new 1406 edlebrock, but it has some major hesitation when accelerating. It idles really nice and runs great when you put your foot in it.

4th pic, the orange thing in the background. That's not a snowcat is it?

Nice truck too!

Re: Picked up another 4x4

No, not a cat, its a Unimog. I got it out today and fed hay to the cows. The snow wasn't deep enough to be fun, so I drove down the ditch.

Thanks for the comments 72 and Glock!

nice score and cool unimog... what part of NM are you at? I lived for a year in Albq. didn't see more than a inch of snow and that nearly crippled the town.

Northeast corner----10 miles from Colorado---elevation 6500 to 8800 feet.
Some years we get over 120 inches of the white stuff! That's why I bought the unimog--it has a 10 ft snow plow.
I just hope this isn't one of those years--we've already had 15 inches.

Re: Picked up another 4x4

Cool, we had a Unimog setup as a brush fire rig years ago. I thought it looked a little too tall for a snowcat, but the orange color at that distance looked just the back end of our old Thiokol. I miss playing with that cat!

Here's our old Uni, a recent pic from the department that owns it now.

That one looks really nice. I would like to build a skid unit to fit in the back of this one.

But a Mog would be too cool for school.

I recently had a similar looking setup on a 72 k/5 that was recently removed/sold in favor of the original look. The bumper ended up being a factory warn aftermarket piece and the model #8274 winch was also built by warn.

Re: Picked up another 4x4

what is the story on that yellow K20 in the first pic? i wish i could come across all of these 4X4's.

I'm glad i live in southeast kansas, i haven't even started feeding hay to my cows yet. They wouldn't last very long at your place

Re: Picked up another 4x4

Ray,

what type of truck are you looking for? Very much original? I saw one in Oklahoma City a couple of weeks ago and thought of your wanted post, it was a two tone Cheyenne, loaded up but had a 3 on the tree. I'll keep my eye out if it shows up again

Re: Picked up another 4x4

The yellow K-20 caught my eye as well. Really good looking truck. If you want to post more pics of it I would love to see. Also my wife and I drove through northern New Mexico and I was shocked how gorgeous it was. Your travel board is really doing a bad job of showing what NM is all about. I always thought adobes and cacti. If I ever strike it rich I told my wife I want to buy a cabin in the mountains of northern NM. Not sure why that land is no longer Texas, seems as though we lost the best looking part of our state, from when it was a country.

Re: Picked up another 4x4

David, I really am looking for a nice clean original Cheyenne 4x4. My only must is an automatic, everything else would be a plus. The last couple I have seen have been manual. I really liked the white one that Iluv72's had a few weeks back, something in that shape with an automatic would be ideal.

Thanks for keeping a look out.

Ray

I'm not ready for snow season either! I bought the yellow one about 2 months ago. It was on ebay and only about 2 hours away from me. It is one of the better ones I've bought. Solid except for rockers---no squeaks or rattles. 10K on motor rebuild, 6K on brakes, new exhaust and clutch!

We are trying to keep it a Secret! I actually wish this were part of Texas!
Actually, NE New Mexico, The OK panhandle , and the TX panhandle would make a great state!

That one is a secret---it is a 1975 406 with 4500 miles on it. It had been stored inside all the time---I had to give a little premium for it!

Thanks for all the great replies.
