Re: drilled through my finger

I am missing 1/3 of my right thumb.

I was a meat cutter by trade (before joining the navy) so as the story goes I was cutting frozen rounds of pork on day to make sausage and one of the rounds rolled and off goes my thumb. Looking at my glove later though I was lucky that i did not split my index finger in half. 65 stitches and a skin graft I have a shorter thumb and feel lucky.

Another time I was training a new guy how to back a beef (remove the hide from the back) and I kept telling him to keep his knifes put away. Well he did and when I said "ok do you think that you can do it" he said yes with trying to cut my middle finger off. So yeah cut the tendons in my middle finger at the knuckle adjoining the palm of the hand separated the bone and then to top that off it got infected in the bone and I almost lost my middle finger.

The best one that I have ever seen though was in high school shop. The shop teacher was showing some kids the correct way to use a router table. As he was making his pass the router bit moved up and he routed his finger.I guess he really did not teach them the proper use but he did show them that the router bit will cut shape your thumb with no effort.
