Can-Back Soft Top

I have been watching this sight for some time now after buying my 71 Blazer last year - there is definitely a lot of good info here.

I have been holding out on buying a soft top as I'm not too impressed with the Bestop. Some of you have mentioned that Can-back has said they were going to make one but never have. I called them a couple of weeks ago and was again assured that they were making one for our Balzers. The gentlemen said they lost some time after a fire last year which is why they are just now getting things back on track.

As an indicator that they are making progress, their top for the first gen Broncos are available for delivery this December and it looks like a great product.

I e-mailed them and told them I would buy the first one they make...it may help if others that are interested do the same.

Would be cool if they did starting making one as no one is making a first gen soft top presently. But, Can-Bcak has been saying one was in the makes for more than a couple years so don't hold your breath.

Folks, this is one of those situations where the squeaky wheel has a decent chance of getting some serious attention. Check out the link. Regardless of past performance, these guys look like they're getting their act together. I just emailed them and I'm planning on calling them directly tomorrow. I encourage everyone to do the same.

Even if you're not in the market for a soft top right this minute, let them know you will support their efforts, tell your friends and fellow 1st Genners, etc. If it works out, maybe we can arrange a group purchase of a half-dozen or so tops, which might make a difference in their production schedule.

I'll post something if I learn anything significant on the call tomorrow.

According to the website, the production version of the Bronco top, which is slated for release this month, will be equipped with side windows. If they end up producing a Blazer top, I can't imagine why they wouldn't do the same thing.

I hope they actually do it this time. They've been saying that a top for the first generation Blazers is due for release in 6 months for at least 5 years.
