Inner Fenders Yes or No

So I just put on the outer fenders, Hood and cowl. I like the look of no inners however some say I will regret it once on the road. The truck will be a Sunday Sunny driver when finished so the water will not be a problem until I get stuck to far away from home. So what have others done? Inners in or out?

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

No inner fenders equals hood damage from little rocks getting thrown up by the tires. You'll be sorry.

Clean up your inners and paint the tops of em body color, it looks slick, and it will save your hood.

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

Well, I guess I will go against the grain here. My truck was my daily driver for about 2 years and I ran without inner fenderwells. I was lucky enough to not get dents in my hood but I did hear quite a few rocks bounce off my hood.

One good puddle and a shorted out ignition system, stalled truck - you'll change your mind and put them in......

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

I pondered over this same thing for a long time. I drove my truck without them in for 2 years, without issue. However I ultimately decided to put them in just to help keep the engine compartment nice and clean.

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

although i ran this summer w/o inners, i can't wait to get them back in. not too worried about rocks, but i hate opening the hood to see all that dirt that i'll have to clean before the next get together.

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

On my 81 C-10 I had 295/50-15's and no inner fenders. Drove it everyday in the Seattle area for 2 years without incident until somebody decided he wanted it more than me.

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

I don't even have the inners for mine. Drove it to Phoenix and back, and to SAn Fran and back 3 times in 6 years and no major problems. I'd put them in if I had them, my both my headlight wiring harness, and positive battery have come loose and rubbed my front tires at different times..

Re: Inner Fenders Yes or No

Paint them up nice so they look good and install them. I think you'll be happier in the long run with them.

IMO I think inner fenders help make the engine compartment look finished.
