Converting from generator to alternator - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 57 pickup and this is my current wiring to my generator. Can someone suggest what I need to do with the wires going to the regulator and which ones go to the alternator when I replace my generator with an Ultima 63 amp alternator?

Is the alternator internally regulated?

Here a simple wiring diagram. The only wire you keep from the old regulator is the battery wire. You will conect to bat tem of new alt. The field and arm wire can be remove as well as the old regulator. That is of course if you use an alt with integrated regulator. #1 goes to the dash warning light and #2 can go right back to bat term of alt.
