Re: removing door panel paint

paint thinner or MEK will probably melt the door panel...like said previously, I would use scotchbrite and some water...

Re: removing door panel paint

I always wondered if soda blasting would work if the pressure was turned way down. I've seen demonstrations on aluminum cans where it didn't even dent the can, and on cars, you can actually remove paint in layers. Just curious. I have a perfect 73-74 grille that somebody painted black that just has too many cracks and crevices to try and scotchbrite completely. The solvents in the new paint will lift and bubble all the old paint you can't get off. Don't ask me how I know this......

Ding, ding, ding....we have a winner. Use cheap lacquer thinner. Be very careful if you use scotch brite. It will scratch them up.

Re: removing door panel paint

I've used Acetone with good success. Can get it at the local hardware store. Repainted my dash that way.

Wouldn't it be easier to pick some new ones up from a salvage yard.
