Re: Short bed 3/4 ton! Say what?

I`ve seen 47-59 models in short 3/4t.Like I said,GM wouldn`t let me order a 3/4t shortbed 4wd in`77.If they built any they weren`t built on the line.I had the dealer call the factory and got a big fat "no".I guess they could have done government COPO quantity orders. But,we weren`t offered shortbed 3/4ts.

Re: Short bed 3/4 ton! Say what?

Before I bought my K20 (in 1977), I looked at an absolutely gorgeous blue & white '71 or '72 SWB 4x4 with 3/4T running gear and a very healthy small-block. As nice as it was, the price was more than I wanted to pay for a truck -- $4500, iirc, so I passed on it....

As much as I love my K20, I have never forgotten "the one that got away". I never knew its configuration wasn't stock -- just one of the things I learned on this board.

Re: Short bed 3/4 ton! Say what?

There was a 67/68 step side truck locally that had 8 lug 3/4 axles under it. It also had 16.5 wheels on it with 250 and 4 speed. Rough piece of crap, but it looked to be an original untouched under carriage and it was not shortened. I thought the same thing, not original etc. but the truck had forest service id badge on glove box door so was it possible? Don't know but it looked the part.....

Looks like we need to de-mothball Leonard Nimoy to do another "In Search Of" episode.

Here is the glove box info on the truck in question. I hope I got this right, I've never posted a photo here before. If it works I'll post a few more.

Re: Short bed 3/4 ton! Say what?

Finally!
The number on the jockey box panel if you can't read it is cs20904. Wheelbase is 127. The vin# is cs247j149088.
Can anyone I.D. these numbers?

Re: Short bed 3/4 ton! Say what?

Here is a photo of what I believe is the original 292. The second photo is the other 67 shorty that is part of the deal.

There are only a few good panels between the two trucks... enough to build an extended cab super short bed on a shortbed wheelbase!

127" wheelbase is a long bed. That is a long step bed. Short bed wheelbase is 115".

well... as mentioned, the 127 is long wheel base.
te VIN...
C 2 wheel drive
S Inline 6
2 3/4 ton
4 truck with bed
7 1667
J built in Janesville
149088 = 49088th one built on that line at that plant for that year.

The model number decodes as;
CS20904
C 2 wheel drive
S inline 6
2 3/4 ton
09 long wheel base
04 stepside bed
