Thanks to all that have posted and viewed this rebuild thread. I enjoy working on the truck and figuring out how to create this thread. Reading the post comments and questions is definitely a big added benefit to keeping the momentum of the build going forward.

Clean up, clean up, and more clean up it never seams to end.
As it has been seen in previous posts on this build thread it’s mainly the new, rebuilt, or some of the plans for this build. Thought it’s about time to post some pictures of the disassembly not in the condition ready for installation. As disassembly progresses I’ve run into some problems that where not planed for but that’s just the way a rebuild goes. It always seems to me that the clean up of part and the shop and prepping the parts for installation takes a lot more time than the disassembly or assembly. (Na it just must be me) I’ve been spending most of my time working on the mechanical and electrical aspects of the truck rebuild (my strong area of knowledge) and less on the body work and paint at this time (my weak area of knowledge) where I will be looking for a lot of input from the forum as time goes on. Front end sheet metal removed, I have most of the sheet metal new and used that will be reworked later. The truck bed wood was rotten and was easy to remove with a small pry bar in about 15 minuets and about 2 hours of cleaning up the wood chips that where all over. The nuts & bolts on the metal strips are rusted pretty bad and will be cutting them out. I don’t know what I would do with out my angle cutoff air tool. It can be dangerous and it uses a lot of air but it sure makes short work at cutting bolts and metal fabrication. I use 3 inch x .035 thick cutoff discs rather than the thicker ones. The work bench always seems to be cluttered and perpetually needs cleaning. This gives me the chance to show off my new acquisition for the shop. A 26 inch HD flat screen TV with a wall mount. It sure brings my shop closer to my second front room, a place to keep up with Hot Rod TV or the football game. I know the shop is not as fancy as the ones you see on TV or some of the other forum members have, but you do with what you have. Free, free, free or should I just request you to help me clean my shop. I’m not into selling or shipping used items so to any one close to the Everett, Washington area with some truck transportation and a possibly a little swet labor for removal I have a free 350 SB Chevy engine and TH350 Automatic Transmission to rebuild for you. What I know about the engine and trans is very little. It appears to be the original engine and trans for the truck. No VIN number on front block deck surface (not unusual for GM manufacturing) I have no idea how many miles the engine has on it (speedometer was disconnected when I bought the truck). The engine was running but burning/ leaking oil prior to starting truck rebuild. The trans was slipping some and leaking oil. See attached pic below for block numbers. I will be posting the engine and trans in the for sale area of this forum in one or two days. PM me if your interested I’ve rebuild a few 350 SB Chevy engines and you never know weather its rebuild able until you take it apart but I see no reason that this engine or trans is not. For any one wanting to rebuild a SB Chevy engine I recommend a HPBooks (how to rebuild your SMALL-BLOCK CHEVY) Book by David Vizard. I’ve used the book more times than I can remember to make sure I don’t forget anything in my rebuilds. Still in print, mine was printed in 1978 can be found at Amazon.com.

I know exactly what you're talking about with the unforseen things to take care of...I call them the "might as well's"....as I was disassembling I had quite a few might as wells since I got it here, I might as well take care of it!!!....Shop looks good....TV, truck, and I assuming there's a "refreshment" refridge in there somewhere too!!!...Keep the pics coming and wish I were closer...I'd love to try and rebuild that engine...I'm a rookie, but would love to try it sometime!

No I picked it up from JEG’S its Part number 15150 and 15229 JEG’S Billet Aluminum Throttle Brackets. Note I did have to modify it some to clear the TV cable corrector lever and a little to get a strait pull on the springs. JEG’S has different ones depending on what cables you plan on using.

The weather for my area is unusual for this time of year over a foot of snow in the last few days. Between shoveling the driveway and staying warm and dry not much work on the truck just some conceptual thought. A good thing I don’t have to go any where unless I want to.
Been contacted by Livrat (a forum member) about the free eng and trans. Now just have to figure out a time and weather permitting to pull them, load them up and off to Livrat’s shop they will go. I’ve been taking measurements and checking them twice just to make sure every thing turns out nice and gathering the parts that are laid out with care (must be the Christmas time sneaking into this post). This is all in preparation for my concept for the tail lights, gas filler door, and tail gate locks that will be used to archive my concept of how I want the tail end of the truck to look like. I’ve always liked the step side bed but wanted to clean it up a bit along with maintaining the stock tail lights and eliminating the chain locks. As I’ve seen others have hidden their gas filler door behind the side marker light (I like this concept) I was thinking to incorporate this into my concept except use the tail light to hide the gas filler(yes the truck will be getting a relocated rear gas tank). I’ve already modified the small Bear Claw Latches by adding a 1/2 “ DIA lever and SS springs, and laying out the area that will need to be removed from the 96-03 Chevy S10 Gas Tank Filler Door (door is the same 6” DIA as the stock tail lights). Parts that will be used 36-4430 LMC Taillight Assembly (Qty 2) 36-4420 LMC Back Up Light Assembly (Qty 2) 30-3830 LMC Urethane Trunnion Set 29-3403 LMC Gas Tank Filler Door BCSM140837 Auto Loc Locking Mini Bear Claw Door Latch Set ESX-0021-02 Small Parts Inc 302 SS ext Springs 102834 MAR-K Tailgate Link Assembly (not shown below) Gathering my concept thoughts I put together what the change will hopefully look like when complete. (Enjoy the concept GIF animation created in Photoshop) Now all that’s left is to make the french buckets for the tail lights and back up lights, weld them in, you know all those little things to do. HA HA Would like to take this time to wish every one a marry Christmas and a happy new year. I do have a new year’s resolution, to complete the truck rebuild by this time next year. You all know how new year’s resolutions go, like wanting to lose 20 pounds (ok 30+ but who’s counting) wish me luck.

I’ve spent the last few days making the tail light buckets, laying out the location on the fender and started to weld them in. But ran out of argon gas for my MIG welder before I was finished welding. So I thought I would show you some of my progress so far. A lot of fun making the gas door and bucket fit but I think it’s coming along.

More room to work on the truck
Livrat (a forum member) came over this weekend and pick up the old eng and trans it’s a good thing the weather was better some what. It sure is nice being able to find another forum member that lives close that can use the parts that I’m not going to be using instead of just taking them to the scrap yard. Thanks to the forums ability to post items and get in contact with others I definitely have more room to continue this project. Just finished putting together the “how to” Speedometer Calibration with a 700R4 Trans” and it’s posted in the FAQ section of the forum http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=322481 I’m from the old school of hot Roding and liked to do as much of the work on my trucks as possible (maintaining, rebuilding, and modifications) and find “how to’s” a benefit to me in the past to accomplish this. I posted a how to “V Belt Pulley Alignment 101” http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=318240 a while ago and have received no feed back Pro or Con or that it was of any benefit to any one. Not wanting to waste forum space and post things that no ones interested in or might fall into the category that every one knows that. I will refrain from posting any more “how to’s” not wanting to waste forum space or other member’s time.

Brother, post them FAQs for all to use. There are plenty of people on here who waste ludicrous bandwidth by posting the same photo over and over again as an attachment for different threads. Your contribution is not a waste. No way, no how. I appreciate your well written and composed posts.
By the way, to all who are reading, if you have a photo that you frequently post on different threads, host the photo at photobucket and link to it each time. That way this board doesn't have to store the same picture over and over again for the different threads.

Three days in the shop and not a lot to show for it.
Or should I say how I drilled a round/elongated hole in a curved surface. Wanting to stay with my concept of putting the stock backup lights in the bumper I picked up some 4 inch exhaust pipe from NAPA and a 4 inch hole saw. Then built a wood jig to hold the bumper square in my drill press and drilled the two holes in the bumper. Welded up one bucket for the backup light and then welded it into the bumper keeping it square to how the bumper will sit. Still have to do the LH side of the bumper. Will not show you the back side of the bumper the weld is not very pretty but its functional, it’s one of those I’m not very proud of the weld but will live with it and no one will see it unless they crawl under the truck or I run over them HA HA. After I weld in the other light and clean up all those nasty little burs on the back edge of the bumper (you know the ones that snag/cut your sponge or hand when washing the truck) the front and back bumper plus bolts will be off to be stripped and powder coated black. I did get a chance to test fit a swing up license plate holder from Summit (part #SUM-G301000 Flip-up License Plate Mount). It didn’t fit very well to my satisfaction; it had to sit low, hitting the aft edge of the bumper, and spring showing below the bumper. I like the concept of hiding the trailer hitch and when using the hitch the license is visible. So there will be a lot of modifications that I will need to make to it to function and look the way I want it to. Trying to keep up with my self imposed goal of wanting to post something on this build once a week or two to keep you up to date and keep the project rolling along. Hope my slow pace at doing things will keep your interest. Now I need to recoup a few days before getting back at it. Have a nice day and a better one tomorrow.
