700R4 swap to TH350
Ok going to pull the 700R4 and install a TH350. I can't seem to hook up the TV cable to the 4BBL so I doing some "Horse" trading. anyway it is a TH350 with lockup. Other than crossmember do I need a new flex plate? What about Drive shaft lenght? What stall should I get? It is not a daily driver just sunny weekends. Thanks for any help.

Re: 700R4 swap to TH350
Why would you do that, you can get all sorts of TV cable brackets to make it work, even if the cable is too short you can get longer ones
Try this site, IIRC they have a write up on how to solve your problem http://www.inliners.org/ Last edited by Spray-Bomb; 12-28-2008 at 04:11 PM. |

Re: 700R4 swap to TH350
Hello I have the Clifford intake and with the 4BBL sitting side ways I have no room for the TV brackets and cable hookup. I called and talked to Bowtie Od and the bracket they have doesn't fit between the carb and valve cover, I had to replace the solid linkage for the gas pedal for the cable lokar type. I just have asked everyone I can think of and study ways to do until I'm crosseyed.
Thanks I know that you can by long cables and different brackets, but so far I have struck out on the install.

Re: 700R4 swap to TH350
As long as you use a 9 inch tailshaft TH350, you won't need to modify the driveshaft or yoke at all.
Same flexplate too. Just move the crossmember forward and bolt it back down. The holes should be there from the factory.

Brother, you aren't defeated till you quit the fight.
Do me a favor first, send a message to member ironbuttlcmc on this board. He had a 700R4 behind his inline 6 with the aftermarket intake and carb like you have. He made it work somehow and I'm sure he'd be happy to get you going in the right direction. He's a heck of a guy that way.

Cool post your pics when you're done...you should get decent mileage with that combo and be able to jump some v-8's off the line!

Re: 700R4 swap to TH350
On some older gm cars, around about 1975 ish, they hooked the cable to the gas pedal inside the vehicle. You would still have to hook up the cable if you use a th350.
