WOW on the welding skills.
Is the tank part of that rear member?? Looks like some air bungs welded in the whole thing...

The whole rear frame as you see it is going to be the air tank. I cut holes in the rails to let air into the mid crossmember, where the valves will mount. I was pressure testing it in that picture, trying to find leaks. I found none with the soapy water technique, and it held 120 PSI for over an hour. But I am leaving it overnight to see how well it holds. I put some blind tapped bungs in the bottom of the rail to mount a low profile bump stop. Is it okay to continue this kind of project thread here?

Man you do nice work.Its cool to see you have your own shop I remeber you from a few years back. When you were doing the build up on your yota back when I was on ssm all the time.
I seems like you have alot of time in that thing. wouldnt it have been cheaper to us a kp six link.I have one waiting to go on my lady's Sanoma. I love the work with the dimple dies it realy adds to it. |

It would have been easier to use a KP six link. I'm not all that fond of the design of the bolt on kits though, and the customer wanted a custom set up with better geometry. It ended up being close to the same price to build and install that as it would have been for me to install a bolt on 6-link. And no one else will have the same setup.

I quit early today because I'm not feeling that well, so I didn't get much done. The tank was at 118 PSI when I came in today. So it dropped about 2 PSI in about 15 hours. I think the schraeder valve is leaking because that was the only thing I got to bubble this morning. But I got the backhalf squared up and welded in place. Building the whole backhalf on the table rather than piecing it together on the truck was so much easier. It only took about 10 minutes to square the rails up once I slid them into the stock frame. So it's welded in place, but it still needs some shear load gussets where it ties together, and I want to wrap the bottom of the frame with some 3/16" plate to keep the transition from being drug. Also made this bracket for my neighbor, to mount a computer monitor to the wall.

Man,
i remenber seeing your fab work on the MTZ board years ago..but these are so much more in depth.I may wrench on my classic now but once a mini truker..always a minitruker
