I think that there may be some small differences to the contours too. I once tried to mount a factory auxiliary battery tray to a 68 core support and could not get it to properly sit on the core support. It is also very possible that it was just me...
Compare the driver's side of LockDocs's picture with El Jay's picture. They look different to me. It probably doesn't matter unless you want to put in a factory auxiliary battery tray.
