Nice!

Let me just say, I really like how you got it on the ground and yet still have a usable bed. Most people just hack out the floor and call it a day. Good job.

Re: Project '86

My last truck had a big round cover over the notch which pretty much made the bed useless as well.

If any of you guys made it out to the show and stopped by the Why Wear? booth let me know what you thought of the designs. It was my buddies first time out at a show so any feedback would be helpful.

It took a long time to make that tailgate. Don't give it a go unless you have plenty of PATIENCE

Re: Project '86

i can only imagine. with the custom work you have done your skill and patience really shows. i love how "just a regular person" can walk by your truck and say thats nice but when "we" start looking at it its like "oh my!!" how did he..??! i am taking a summer sheetmetal welding class. its amazing what your doing. Re: Project '86

I'm glad you like it. While I was at Showdown this weekend I only say one person that noticed the fenders and I don't think anyone ever looked twice at the tailgate. Hours and hours of work and no one even notices

But that's the way I like it.........

I like looking at cars and trucks I am familiar with, especially when I can notice things that aren't stock. I like to try and find something custom done with each trip around the vehicle. That partly explains why I did the things I did to my 68. Hopefully those that know the 67-72's will see some subtle mod that I made, then a little later on see something else, then something else, and so on and so on. Or even after they have left, maybe something will pop into their head and make then go "wait, they never put xxxxx on those trucks!"

Stuff like this really makes me think twice about getting a 4x4. Kinda makes me want to sell my K5 and buy a swb.

Re: Project '86

I was wondering how it looked with door panels on it and the finished panel on the fender.

Re: Project '86

It has no interior in it at all. In fact it still has a big hole cut in the floor where the tranmission goes. I can put up a shot later though of how the rear of the fender came out.

Re: Project '86

GAWD!! that's awesome work man... I have a cherry 85 I am gonna start on one of these days as soon as I get the title situation fixed. I love the front fender mod and the gate. the way you did the gate is the same as one of my old trucks was from the factory. have you reinstalled the motor and trans yet? just wondered if you had to cut the cab or anything for clearance.. otherwise, sweet build man. I'll be following

Re: Project '86

I haven't put the motor and trans back yet but in anticipation of needing to I cut the floor out above the transmission long ago. I am not sure how far I will actually need to move it up.

Re: Project '86

I didn't get to go to the show like I wanted. I wish things would have been different this weekend. I really regret not getting to see that thing. I love all the stuff you have done to it. How was the show BTW? Anything else cool there? Anything other than late model stuff? Any/many cars?
I don't remeber if I have asked before, but where in East Texas are you?

Re: Project '86

I am about 20 minutes east of Longview. There where a lot of really nice C10s at the show. I only saw about 5 old hot rods (camaros mostly) but they were restored nicely. I tried to take a picture of every C10 there (looking good or bad) so tonight I might make a new thread and post them up.
