Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)

I finally got the blazer off the jackstands and back on the ground.
I got a set of the new Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms for bags for the old blazer. This started out as a quick bag job, since I was already static dropped at a 5.5"/6" drop.

Well, it turned into alot more. I also purchased the new AirPod from AirRide Technologies. This thing is perfect for blazers. Super easy to install. (thanks to Tony@AirRide Tech for your help)
I installed the AirPod controller in the console, where the ashtray goes. It fit perfect with a little dremel tool work. (I had previously swapped this console out for the '73-up "cupholder console,... so I dug out the original "seat belt console for this mod.)
While I was at it I installed a McGaughy's bolt in c-notch, and 2" lowering blocks in the rear.
I'm still not done. The spare tire mount needs to go back in, along with finishing up my "lowering of the bucket seats" idea, that member n2billet put in my head.
Hopefully tomorrow I can roll it out side for more pics. The a-arms easily lay out on the pavement, along with the trailing arm crossmember and exhaust.
Thanks to Jason at www.***************** and Tony at AirRide Technologies for all their help!

If you don't have a lift,... you also need alot of these,...
Next on the list of "things to do",... is take some good measurements for a set of 20's.

I think a set of gray TTII's will finish it off.
(or maybe Vintec's,... hmmm)

Looks good........20x8.5 with 5.75 BS for the front and 20x10 with 5BS for the rear should get you there.

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)

Keith,... what wheels would you put on my blazer? I'm having a hard time deciding.
Gray TTII's fit the "wash it and wipe it", no polish feel, of the blazer,...

Also,... my 15x8 ralleys are tight on the Passenger side. My 15x10 ralleys with 5" backspace won't work. I'm afraid I will need more backspace. Plus I may need more tweaking on the Super Track Bar.

20-22 combo of any 5 spoke design would look killer. spray that chassis with some undercoating :}.
i love your blazer. keep the pics coming

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)

I know the frame needs some attention. But this thing has some factory undercoating that has really preserved it. I thought about spray-bombing some black paint on the frame,... but where do you stop?
Some day,... it will get the "frame-off" it deserves.
I've thought about gray centered Coys,... but I really want American Racing TTII's with the gray centers. (like my buddy Crawdadfox's old F-85)

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)

Big lips on Coys look great for a lotta flash if you were going polished, but for me, I just keep going back to TT2's. Tradition. It really doesn't matter what you put on a Blazer when it's sitting like that. Crusty rims and big white walls would look great.

The controller looks right at home there in the center of the console.

So when's the maiden voyage??? I'll be up...

Here ya go. My idea of what might work well. Take it to photoshop for a photochop...I'm leaning towards the center pic, C55. They give a sharp edge to contrast the roundness of body. They would look very good on Blaze Imo...Keith, when you have time, I'm sure we all would love to see more AirPod plumbing...

Came to say this... and that I'm glad it's a square body console you cut for it. There are Blazer folks out there who might have hunted you down and smacked you for cutting a round-hole unit.

Air pod is good choice for the Blazer application too.

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)

XXL,... that's not a squarebody console. That's the original '71 blazer "seat belt" style console. (let the smacking begin)
I had a '73 "cupholder style" console in it that I took out. The AirPod controller wouldn't fit between the two cupholders. But,... it did fit nicely where the ashtray use to be, in this one.
