? about Thorley BBC headers

Is anyone running the 73+ BBC tri-y headers on a 67-72? They don't show a part # for us but the frames are pretty similar.... I'm thinking about getting some but wanted to see if anyone has done it.

Re: ? about Thorley BBC headers

I am running tri-ys on my 72' 1/2ton 4x4, they are for the 73' 3/4ton 4x4. There high quaility parts and I got the chromed ones I bought them from summit for $369. Only mod to the headers is the pass. side header has a bend welded in it. I cut the weld and the pipe straightend itself out. I rewelded the pipe .
I would highly recomend the product.

Re: ? about Thorley BBC headers

There are Doug Thorleys and there are Thorleys. Oh yeah, and then there are Doug's.
Doug Thorleys were made way back when. Thorleys are a Summit Racing brand. They bought the name from Doug's ex wife, she got the most of the stuff in the divorce. Doug's, are Doug Thorleys new brand name. At least that was the story I got a few years back.
Check around, one of the three might make a set. I bought a set of used ones for my SBC truck for $20 at a swapmeet. Same guy had a set for a BBC, he was asking $100.

Hope this info helps, Good Luck.

Re: ? about Thorley BBC headers

I have had a set of 73 - 87 "Doug's...Doug Thorleys" tri-y's on my 68 4x4 for almost 20 years.. If I remember correctly the part number was "304Y" .. they fit great are still going strong.. I would highly recomend using "dougs".. to anyone who is contimplating tri-ys... not sure about the "Thorley" brand..as I have never had any experience with them..

Re: ? about Thorley BBC headers

Thanks guys. I'm looking at the Doug Thorley brand, one of their guys had a discount going for the board. Maybe it's still going.
It looks like the 303Y would be the choice for me.
