Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
Well, looks like my plans to get started on my c10 just got derailed! Did my taxes last night, looks like 6 brutal months of 3am paper routes as a second job Just cost me a grand. I watched my tax refund go from $900 down to -$950...unbelievable....
Anyone else feel like you gotta be a CEO of a horribly run company to get a help in hard times? Anyway bye-bye nice new wood bed! DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A TRUCK FROWN?

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
Welcome to the real world! Enjoy those nice roads your taxes helped build At least your truck taxes should be pretty low (tags & taxes only run $17/year here in KS).

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
You need to change your w-4 so that the gov takes out more money each check, that way you pay the tax over the whole year and not all at once.

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
You're very right it did cost me 1850. I dont get a W-4, its a 1099 MSC. Newspaper companies screw the carriers by not employing them but signing them as independent contractors. So you pay taxes as a self-employed person would.

Had the same happened here but wasn't the government it was the dentist. Had a couple hundred to stimulate the engine rebuilders economic situation, but now its going to the dentist. At least its for bling somewhere, you just wont be able to see it in the back of my mouth.

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
Did you even make that much on the paper route? I pay about 10% tax on each paycheck..
Tri-pro automotive is having a sale on those grilles right now inthe parts board. They are a little dull but nicer than yours and cheap.

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
I deal with the same thing with my swimming business. It takes my wife and I both claiming Single, and "0" at our regular jobs to offset the taxes, but the extra income is more than worth it.

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
If I become a CEO, I only want to make $249,999.99, so I won't need a second job to pay taxes.

Re: Uncle Sam just took a giant bite out of my C10
I would imagine that you have claimed every available expense that goes along with delivering the papers.
When I was selling life insurance many years and about 4 careers ago I got paid under a similar system and had to keep track of everything that I spent for work. Some are deductible and some aren't but I'd sure investigate it before paying out the money. We have no extra deductions that we can claim as we rent and the kids are grown so we both have taxes taken out for single claiming zero during the year and manage to get a decent refund. |

I love getting taxed for the harder I work, I guess you just have to sit on your but and somehow make lots of money
