picked up a 2wd 86

finally, i found a 2wd worthy of "deckin out" haha

everything around here is total rust buckets, but this one has been owned by a buddy of mine for 14 years, and kept in his heated garage..."zero rust", and 100% GM

got to get some bugs worked out, then its gettin a drop and some 17's or maybe 20's not sure yet, depends on how thin my wallet gets

snapped this quick pic when he was unloading it at the house....darn thing has 285/70 15's...pretty much 31's on it

Man that thing looks solid. What all does it need, just the body moulding? Project should move along quickly with this kind of start.

as far as looks are concerned, yeah, just body molding

mechanically, it just needs a "going through", ya know?.....he put a 350 GM crate motor in it, and a crate 350 turbo trans around 6 years ago, but never fooled with it and adjusted everything, so all that needs done

i'm thinking of doing a 5/7 drop, front will have drop spindles/springs, rear will have a 5" flip kit with 2" drop shackles

for wheels, either 17, 18's or 20's...just depends on the money, or lack of

my old 87 i had, i did a 5/7 with 15's, kind of did the big/little theme, and i liked the drop it had, and it rode really nice, wasnt ruff at all

Looks like a great truck. Good thing you aren't closer to Oklahoma, or it may come up missing!

Re: picked up a 2wd 86

Didn't you trade that off for a real cherry '86 (factory TBI) K10 shorty? Haven't seen much of you since that time.

i'd like to do just about the same thing with this one, only use larger rims but try and get the same stance, if thats possible

it had 285/70-15's rear, and 235/70-15's front, kind of looked tubbed, sort of

anyone know what the 17" or 18" equavalent is on those 15" sizes?

Re: picked up a 2wd 86

Hey Bigarmzz , Welcome back . That truck looks nice but I am sure it will look a lot nicer soon if your past trucks are any indication of how it will turn out .Just for rerference , Here is a set of TT2's in 18 inch and a similar wheel in 17 inch . I liked the 18's better but would run a shorter tire if I did them again . 18's on the tan truck .
