Frame ID?

I checked my frame on the top rail driver side one is by the front tire and the other is at rear of cab area, the problem is that it is an 8 digit serial number and does not coincide with normal VIN numbers. How do you decipher this number?

Re: Frame ID?

Andy (LHM) may help you out here because we just had this discussion not long ago..... but if I remember right, those numbers don't exactly mean a thing. they could be shipping codes or date codes that aren't "decipher-able".

Re: Frame ID?

actually, if the numbers are right here (see photo) then they should match the second 1/2 of your VIN, otherwise, it's had a cab swap, or a new frame slipped under an old truck.
Either way, the title doesn't match the frame.

Re: Frame ID?

ooops, I thought you meant the number stamped into side rail of the frame, right behind the front cab mount.

see, I knew Andy would help!
