Old Question: What shocks to get???

I'm debating about shocks. The guys at ECE were offering KYB std. shocks (non gas) for $35 each. Gas ones were a bit more expensive.

What kind of shocks do you guys think I should get? Anyone have better alternatives? Best ride for the buck? I just spent some money on front-end parts, so I'm not thinking "gee, what's the most amount of money I can spend on shocks?",

Thanks....

I'm gonna go with the KYB's next time around...ECE used to use the Belltech Nitrodrops (which I have on my truck) but IMO, at least on the rear, they're way too bouncy...there's gotta be a reason they switched...

Well....I'm surprised to see this thread pop back up! Since last August when I originally posted this thread I rebuilt the front and back suspensions on the truck.

I went with KYB shocks, and am pretty happy with them!

Ah...I think I remember this problem. From what I remember ECE sent me two sets of shocks. Be careful because it's easy to swap the fronts for the backs. The shock studs they give you for the front shocks should fit nice and tight inside the top collar. The bottom collar needs to have a spacer put in (I believe - it's been a while) so the 5/8" bolt can slide in (which, by the way, is hard to get a nut on because of the lack of space, so I got thin nuts that fit in the little pocket just for this.

The backs don't need any extra hardware from what I remember.

If you want me to I can take a peak at my setup to remind me how it's set up if you want.

the top bolt on my passenger side shock had worn a chip out of the hole in the frame ... i made some oversized washers to use when i install the new shocks .... i'll have to get that welded up some other time.... they weren't the stock shocks but they were very old and very worn out ... any suggestion on good air lift shocks for the back end ?? not super cheap but not ultra performance stle either ... thanks
