Don't get me wrong guys. When the guy asked I was very polite and helpful. I demonstrated filling the oil through the filler cap and sent him happily on his way with his oil topped up. I didn't make him feel stupid for asking. I was none the less stunned by the question. It's just that I can barely comprehend a mature individual having a drivers license and not nowing how to add a quart of oil to his engine, fill a car with gas, fill the windshield washer fluid or add air to tires. I know that there are lots that can't change a tire either but it still bugs me. There are certain basic skills that come with operating a motor vehicle and I believe the above mentioned are included in that list. Heck my wife figured out how to change her valve cover gaskets and the igniter module on the coil on her Toyota before I met her.
