Help..One piece driveshaft. - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey guys just wondering if anyone is running a one piece shaft with a slip yoke. Just rebuilt the th400 and put a bolt-on yoke on it. I know tube dia has a little to do with whether it can be done or not, my tube diameter measures 3 1/2 inches. Trying to prevent the shaft from crashing into the tailshaft. When I dissasemble the trans the bushing at the output end of the planetaries had broken all the lugs off it and the lock plate that rides on the case broke off all the lugs....BAD! Rollerized the output and now it's SuperDuty! Gonna fix all the cobbles on the truck as time goes on. Thanks.

same here....always heard you basically need a slipyoke to handle the tiny movement from suspension and such but i have bolt yokes on Both sides and thought a solid shaft would kill the trans. What to do?

Yes, i have a stepside swb and a TH400. I had them make me a drive line with a slip yoke...

heres some pics.

Thing is, if you are going to go low in the rear, you are going to have to notch your crossmember cause the driveline will run into it. ONe bad thing about the one piece. I cant go ANY lower now cause the driveline will touch the cab.

PERFECT!!!! i have heard of people using the (dont quote me on this) F%$# Ranger extended cab ones with the slip fit center....but LYRIKZ's is awesome

mines about 3.5 or 4 inch aluminum

My tube is friggin thick. Id have to guess 4 or 4.5 or so..

I had mine custom made for 220 ish or so... I dont remember.

okay anyone have the part number for the spicer or equivalent proper slip-yoke that is counterbored for our trucks. thanks in advance.
