Cab differences?

Hey guys and gals. I have a question about the cabs on the 67-72 trucks. My '67 small window GMC is in desparate need of a replacement cab. I was wondering if there were any major changes in the 67-72 cabs or if they are all interchangable. I would like to keep the original small window look if possible. Thanks in advance.

67 is small window. 68 is big window.. a 71 rear view mounts on the roof and a 72 rear view mounts to the windshield... i think thats only difference

there are a bunch of little things that simply don't matter. The main things you'll find that may matter to you... may not...
67 is the only year for a small window
67/68 has the wire harness like yours, chainged in 69
67/67 has the parking brake like yours, chainged in 69.
71/72 has a cable operated throttle, that, while is actually a step forward, would be more hassle when converting.
If your truck is a 4 speed, or a 4X4, the high hump issue may be more work for you, but that'll unbolt from your original cab and can be bolted to a low hump cab once you cut out the hole.
A/C verses non A/C... not a HUGE issue, unless you have a preference and refuse to go in the oposite direction you are at now.

Sounds like if I want to keep it original looking, I need a '67 cab. I would like to keep the small window if possible. Thanks for the replies!

The ignition switch bezels different on a '67 as well.

I heard that a 67s frame is different to where you cant bolt a power steering box to it,does anyone know if this is true

the ign bezels are different, the years are 67-68, and 68-72, some time during the 68 production year they changed

some 67-68 had flat frames where the steering box mounts and they will require an adapter to bolt up a power steering box

the mayjor difference between wiring harness on 67-68's and 69-72's are the 67-68 haveing a hand pull ebrake allowed for the fuse block to horizontaly on the floor/firewall
where as the 69-72's foot opperated ebrake forced gm to mount the fust block verticaly to allow the ebrake full motion

on 67 doors the handles are different and wil only work with 67 outer handles, 68-71 doors are completely the same, but 72 doors have a screw on the inside a inch or 2 below the window chnnel attached to the vet window, and also have longer posts for the window crank and interior door handle, which was to provide the space needed to use the plastic 72 door pannels

Yes,`67 frames never had a power steering box.They require a dimple to be mounted and there are spacers made.ou could rig something up to space the box,but do it right.
