Drop pics
Since everone loves pics, took some pics of what I did today. Dropped the back 5, boy it sure needed it. Used the WC 3/5 kit. Plan on putting the new springs in some night this week. Thanks for the info Custom Chevy, sounds like it will be a lot easier than the back. Had a great day though, it was a fun project.

Doesn't look like he has shock extenders installed.

Looks good. It would be a good idea to use some shock extenders, even though you are using drop shocks. This will move the angle of the shocks to more straight up and down. They will work a ton better if you do.

Thanks... I did not know about the shock extenders. I thought I only needed them if I was using my stock shocks. How do you install the shock extenders.

Oh, and Eric, I think if you had mounted the shock extenders first, then mounted the axle, you may not have had any trouble.

I don't have a PN, but I've purchased a shock extender kit separately from Sport Truck Direct before. Give them a call.

I bought mine from Performance Suspension Components. They are $23.95.
This site has frames so a link to the exact page won't really work. Just click on Truck Links, then Lowering Kits. Scroll to the bottom of the page. |

I agree, it does get old having to order every dang thing you need for our trucks. I guess trucks are not a big enough item for stores to specialize in these parts. At least not around my hick town anyway.
I don't really mind ordering too much, but the shipping is high sometimes, especially on low price items. But sometimes you can gain it back on not having to pay tax. I guess this is what we get for having/doing odd ball stuff to our trucks. |

I'll have to give this a little thought if I really want to go and reinstall all this just to put the extenders on. As you can see in the pic, the flip kit plate is right up against the lower bolt for my shock. I can't take the bolt out to take the shock out. As Eric says, it's a damn tight fit.
