my 1964 GMC Project......almost finished!

well after about 2 years and more money than I want to think about....

I am finally getting somewhat close to being able to drive my truck again..

it started out like this:

Frame was sandblasted....new cab floor, rockers....carpet, seats..you name it...

this is what it looks like now...

New tailgate, new bedwood and strips, new headboard....

Really nice work, Chad. Where'd you get your rear sill?

Re: my 1964 GMC Project......almost finished!

I got the roll pan, front headboard, tailgate, and the bedwood kit (strips, wood, bolts), and rear cross sill from Mar-K....

The door sills, other bolt kits, window gasket kits, floor pans, and windshield rubber from GMCPauls....

No problems with anything, completely satisfied.....

Also Battery tray from Christians Classics......

The truck looks really great ! I noticed from your pictures that the bedwood appears to be black.

Can you post a picture showing additional detail to this part of your rebuild? I plan on going back with a flat black finish on my bedwood once I get that far along.

I would like to hear how you finished off the wood.

Thanks !

I will post more pics of the bed tomorrow.......

I bought the pine wood kit, since I will drive this truck a pretty good bit, and I didn't want to be afraid to put something in the bed and damage good Oak.

I just stained the wood a cherry stain, and then put 3 coats of poly clear on it...

Great work!
I would have been satisfied with the before pics, but you've done a fantastic job.
Keep the pics coming!

Re: my 1964 GMC Project......almost finished!

Thanks everyone, I am glad it is almost streetable.....

Me and my son did most of the work...learning as we went...

We swapped the front end and the rear end for disc/drum 5 lugs..Learned a lot of ways to NOT do things when I did this..

I did what little bodywork was done, and I painted it myself

It was a good learning experience......
