finally got to drive my 66 on the road

well yesterday i went and started the registration prosses on my 66 gmc. i have no title for it so i have to get it inspected and weight certificate but for now i have a temporary tags. i drove my truck today and had some problems first the master cylinder is not letting the brake fluid back in to it so my front brakes were dragging real bad and had to bleed them off, then on my motor which is a 350 v8 it blow out the front intake manifold rubber and was blowing oil out. then my quadra-junk is having some major issuse and dieing out at stops. so got the truck home and took carb off and rebuilt it pulled the manifold and replaced the gaskets a rubbers and got a new master cyl and in stalled it. going to try again tommarrow. thanks for listening to me rant.hopfull better the next time.

With all the problems you mentioned with your engine and brakes, it was still outweighed by the fact that you DROVE HER! YES!!

Here to a long and addictive quest to be the BEST! Great new! stick with it, just a little at a time. and it will all get done. I have a new spare single cell reservior for a 60 GMC should work with your 66, unless you have a dual setup for the clutch. You can have it for free just cover shipping. email me off BB at jbgroby@charter.net mention "master cylinder".

I'm now 9 years into an off frame (hurricane Katrina wipped me out) I should have her finished this year. I had so many different setbacks, I've almost given up once or twice.

COOL!!

you will want to ditch the rubber on the front and rear of the intake, just use some black RTV or "the Right Stuff"
those have been problematic for years and most people who do much engine work will tell ya the same, some gaskets don't even come with the rubber pieces, just come with a tube of silicone

Re: finally got to drive my 66 on the road

Glad to hear its moving.......you may need to adjust your brake rod out some. It sounds like it is applying pressure to the cylinder all the time. It needs some space before pushing on the 'piston' in the bore. I have seen this issue over in the suspension section a couple times recently.
