Need a little lift? How about swapping leaf springs?
My '72 K5 4WD came with a Skyjacker 2.5" lift kit. I would like to drop the truck back down to stock height.
Is anyone interested in swapping out front and rear leaf springs? From what I can tell/have been told, that's all I need. Any additional input will be appreciated. I started asking about this in another thread, but I don't know how to edit/change a Topic heading, so I'm starting another one. Mods, please let me know if that's not kosher.

you might be able to get your springs re arched or find springs from a 1/2 ton 4wd PU.

Thanks for the tip, Bouncy. Maybe the guys on the Pickup side of the site will be interested. I'm also checking locally around Atlanta.

I may be interested, but itd be expensive to get them there, although I do have family that just moved down there. I'll have to see when they'll be coming back.

Sounds like a (possible) plan, JF. Keep me posted.

Re: Need a little lift? How about swapping leaf springs?
I'd personally avoid swapping for a set of used stock springs simply due to the life span of springs, they wear out.
If I were in your situation, I'd purchase a quality set of new springs packs that offer the ride height your looking for along with better ride quality than any old stock spring would deliver. Then once they're out and available, post those 2.5" lift springs for sale. Tough to sell something while your still using it. ![]() |
